Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship came to fruition through a mutual agreement that there are not enough paid opportunities for young adults to continue to explore technology in the summer and prepare them for future careers in tech.

During our 2023 summer apprenticeship, 10 Twin Cities high schoolers gained tech and career experience. They designed, built, and programmed a REV robot, which they competed with and presented publicly at the end of the summer. They also gained invaluable professional skills, meeting with over 40 industry professionals as they shared about different career opportunities and how to pursue them effectively.

By the end of this summer, our students had a background in coding, experience in the workplace, and network connections with tech professionals.

This year, we have expanded by adding a drone program. With both opportunities, students will grow in technology, professional, and leadership skills. They will experience engaging learning, industry professional speakers, and workplace visits. Lastly, they have an opportunity to explore STEM careers with workplace mentors after completed apprenticeship.
